Ananda Temple

Ananda Temple

Situated in Bagan, Myanmar and built in 1105 AD during the reign of King Kyanzittha of the Pagan Dynasty (1084–1113), Ananda Temple is one of the most popular Buddhist temples in Myanmar. It is one of four surviving temples in Bagan. The temple setting is in a cross with various terraces leading to a small pagoda at the peak covered by an umbrella called as hti that is the most popular ornament found on almost tops of all pagodas in Myanmar. THE INTERESTING PLACES TO VISIT IN YANGON
Housing four standing Buddhas, each one facing the greatly important direction of East, North, West and South, the temple is thought to be a wonder of architecture in the unification of Mon and adopted Indian constructional design. Also known as “genuine museum of stones” and titled the "Westminster Abbey of Burma", the impressive temple has close similarity to the Pathothamya temple built in the 10th–11th century.
This temple measures 289 feet from one end to the other and 168 feet high from its foot to that portion on the top decorated with parget moldings of down-turned and up-turned lotus petal styles.
Htilominlo Temple
Located not far from the road between Nyaung U and Bagan, and only about 1.5 km to the northeast of Bagan, Htilominlo Temple which was constructed in 1228 during the reign of King Htilominlo (also known as Nandaungmya), 1211-1231 is one of the most popular Buddhist temples in Myanmar.

Built with red brick, the temple consists of three tall stories tall at 46 metres (151 ft) height. The temple is also famous for its careful gypsum moldings with four big Buddhas facing each direction on the first floor. Although seriously damaged in the 1975 earthquake, the temple was then subsequently repaired and now it is still one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Myanmar.
Built on a low platform and having a proportional floor plan, the temple has the Eastern entrance porch that spreads further out than the other three which fracture the symmetry of the complex. The extensive shorter cube is peaked with three retrograding terraces. The much second cube is much smaller with another three terraces. All of them feature petit stupas on each of its sides.
Sulamani Temple
Situated in the village of Minnanthu (southwest of Bagan) in Burma, the Sulamani Temple is one of the most-frequently visited Buddhist temples in Bagan.

Constructed in the year 1183 by King Narapatisithu and has close similarity to the Thatbyinnyu Temple in design, the Sulamani Temple’s another name "bragging jewel" also represents the influence from the Dhammayangyi Temple and was the style for the Htilominlo Temple. Reconstructed after the earthquake in 1975 and rebuilt in 1994 by the utilization of brick and stone, with beautifully painted pictures on the wall in the interior of the temple, this temple is a more complex than the Htilominlo and Gawdawpalin.
Associating the horizontal planes of the last period with the vertical lines of the center, the temple possesses two floors standing on spacious terraces assembled to form a pyramid effect. The brickwork throughout is regarded as some of the most outstanding in Bagan. Pagodas stand at the corners of each terrace, and a high wall, adapted with perfect gateways at each cardinal point, surrounds the original complex.
